Philippa Baptist, BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Environmental Management student, has been awarded a Jill Willows Scholarship at Harper Adams University.
Philippa, 23, from Orpington, Kent said: “This scholarship will be put towards travelling costs; one of my ambitions is to volunteer in developing countries and experience other farming methods.
“During my placement at Fawley Farms in Devon, I had a fantastic experience on an outdoor pig breeding unit, and get a hands-on experience as a farm worker.
“I'd like to thank the late Jill Willows for continuing to provide the funding to students, like me, to help further my career.
“I’d also like to thank the awards committee for awarding me the scholarship, it’s highly motivating to have other people believing that you’re worth investing into and gives you a boost in self-confidence.
“In the future, I hope to go into environmental consultancy with an aim to also work with farming organisations in developing countries, helping to develop farming methods and increase the quality of life of rural farmers.”
